Music Box Children’s Opera Group

Details About the Event

Music Box Children’s Opera Group, under their director Mark Lawrence, perform Britten’s timeless introduction to opera for a young audience at the concert venue St George’s Bristol. The story of Sam the sweep boy, rescued by the children of the manor for the filthy chimney and eventually from his cruel masters, is one that touches the hearts of young and old alike. With a cast of child and adult performers, audience songs and plenty of action, this is a perfect way to introduce a young audience to the world of opera, particularly in Britten’s centenary year. This is a special project funded by St George’s Education Programme as part of the Britten 100 celebrations. 17th June 2013
